Bears in the Bath

Bears in the Bath by Shirley Parenteau

For all parents whose children don't like bath time, this book is for you. Big Brown Bear gets the tub ready -- water, soap, washcloth, sponge, boat. But where are the little bears? Dusty and dirty, muddy and sweaty, stinky and reeky, four little bears whine "we don't want a bath." Determined to wash the little bears clean, Big Brown Bear chases the little bears and scoops them up in his arms but to no avail.

The four little bears are quick and they wriggle free leaving Big Brown Bear covered in "smudges and smears from the tips of his toes to the tops of his ears." But Big Brown Bear is clever. Thinking fast he jumps into the tub, splishing and splashing and having a grand old time. The four little bears, not wanting to miss out on any fun pop up at the edge of the tub looking very disappointed to be on the outside. One after another -- Yellow Bear, Floppy and Fuzzy Bear, and Calico Bear too -- all pile in splashing and laughing until all the bears are clean once more.

Playing with soap suds, splishing and splashing, scrubbing from head to toe, bath time can be one of the best parts of the day.

Just ask the bears.
