Red Wagon

August 18, 2016

Who ever said a red wagon is just a wagon? In Renata Liwska's Red Wagon, Lucy the fox is given an exciting gift -- a red wagon. But instead of being able to play with it, Lucy is told to take the wagon to the market and fill it with things to eat. Lucy doesn't like that idea. But off she goes -- soon picking up some friendly company along the way (illustration below).

Now that Lucy has picked up some friends, the fun begins. Using their imaginations the friends turn the little red wagon into a boat, a covered wagon, a house on wheels, a train, a rocket ship, and a construction vehicle. They may have set out to complete a chore, but in the end, that chore was the gateway to an adventure. A creatively illustrated story -- and one that will make you laugh, Red Wagon shows children that the imagination has no boundaries and that fun can be found -- you just have to be willing to see it.

What kind of adventures will your children have the next time you ask them to do chores?
