While it’s far from a beach day in New England on this chilly and rainy day, I wanted to share this beautiful board book that was sent to me by Creative Company Books. Written by Amy Sky Koster and illustrated by Leslie Ashlock, Seashell is a book for all seasons as its pages transport the reader to sunnier, warmer days. Written in rhyme, Seashell has such a simple rhythm to it that children will love repeating the words. Kids will especially love it if they are familiar with the nursery rhyme “She Sells Seashells by the Seashore” as the text reminds me of the rhyme.
A great way to inspire kids to wonder about nature and to notice the differences and details associated with each shell, parents will appreciate the list of shell names at the back of the book.
My only complaint is that while the book is listed as a board book the pages bend easily and I’m not sure it can withstand too much wear and tear from children under two.
