I've been very behind with my posts lately but this one couldn't wait. Author and illustrator, Julia Groves has a striking talent for illustration, printmaking, and color palettes which I had to share. How I have managed to never come across her work before I'm not sure, but I'm so glad I finally did.
While the book titles pretty much speak for themselves -- each book gives you the names of baby animals living in the mountains, meadows, rivers, and forests -- you'd be surprised by how many uncommon names there are. Chicks, fawns, and kids are pretty widely used baby animal words but what about the name for a baby hare or a baby swan? Or a baby snake or raccoon?
A beautiful series and one that will surely enrich you and your child's knowledge of the youngest wildlife.
