As a dance teacher, any dance-themed book always seems to catch my attention. Baby Dance by Ann Taylor (illustrated by Marjorie van Heerden) brings to life all of those beautiful moments of graceful spontaneity that we enjoy with our little ones.
With rich background colors that swirl in and out of the pages, the movements of a father-daughter dance become magnified. I particularly like the way the text contributes to that sense of movement with its rhythmic rhymes. "Up to the ceiling, down to the ground. Backward, forward, 'round and 'round."
A book that not only celebrates dance, but the love between a little girl and her parents.
